Mammootty, Mohanlal and Dileep to share screenspace again

Here's reason enough for fans of the superstar brigade to rejoice. After Twenty: 20 and a gap of four years, Mollywood's Big Ms — Mammootty and Mohanlal —will be seen sharing screenspace with Dileep in Ranjith's next film.

Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty, which was apparently titled German Returns earlier, will have Mammootty playing the lead and Mohanlal and Dileep doing a cameo. A source from the film's crew tells us, "Mammootty plays an NRI and Mohanlal and Dileep play themselves in the film, whom Mammootty's character meets in Germany during a stage show. The switch on of the film happened in Kochi the other day and actors Innocent and Janardhanan did the honours. We've shot only the portions where Mammootty's character interacts with the superstars," says our source. "The filming happened at the same venue where most of the artistes in the industry were present, busy practising for AMMA's upcoming stage shows."

Besides the superstars, DJ-turned-actor Sekhar Menon will also play a prominent part in the film — his much-anticipated next onscreen venture after his debut, Da Thadiya.

Interestingly, the last time Mammootty and Mohanlal shared screenspace in a Ranjith film was in Narasimham (scripted by Ranjith and directed by Shaji Kailas), where the former did a cameo. After Twenty: 20, Dileep recently did a full-length role alongside Mammootty in Kammath and Kammath.

Our source adds, "Every time the Big Ms play the lead in a Ranjith film, the audience have lapped them up, be it the Mohanlal-starrers Ravanaprabhu and Spirit or Mammootty's Paleri Manikyam: Oru Paathira-kolapathakathinte Kadha and Pranchiyettan and the Saint. As far as the audience are concerned, watching the three superstars in the same film is a treat in itself; the duration of each actor's role doesn't matter."
