Ramesh (Mohanlal) is a secretariat officer. He lives in a government quarters with his wife (Meera Vasudev) and two children. His older child Manu (Arjun) is 16 years old and studies in Twelfth standard, while Manju (Niranjana) is nine years old. Ramesh is engaged to his cousin Shoba but is canceled. So, he marries Lekha and has no regrets.
But his life is confined to office and home. And so, he feels suffocated. He spends time with his family after office. He also finds time for his children and helps his wife in the kitchen. The film is about the life of this middle class man who is suffocating owing to the responsibility he has on his father Krishnan Nair (Nedumudi Venu) and children. Three generations are involved in the story of the film.
Mohanlal plays the lead role in the film and model Meera Vasudev is his wife. Nedumudi Venu plays his father and Arjun and Nirajana are his children. Mohan Sithara is the music director of the film and Kaithapuram writes the lyrics. Century Films produces the film and Sethu Sriram handles the camera.
